BS GENERIC NURSING

We, the faculty of Ahmad Medical Institute Peshawar, hold true following beliefs and values as a guide for preparing competent professionals nurses to meet the nursing care needs of client peruses for health related concerns. These beliefs and values are the framework for all faculty activities, including teaching, nursing practice, leadership and service.

The Faculty of AMI, as a team we have committed and have strong believed that;

Nursing, as an academic discipline, requires synthesis of knowledge, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, individual accountability, technical proficiency and leadership. The art of nursing is the application of this knowledge in caring, collaborative and incorporate the humanities, physical and social sciences as well as nursing theory and traditions. The focus of baccalaureate nursing expands to include health promotion with individuals as well as communities in a variety of structured and unstructured settings. As provider of direct and indirect care the baccalaureate nurse employs both theoretical and empirical information in the analysis, interpretation, and management of client needs.

As coordinator of care, the baccalaureate nurse utilizes expanded skills in communication, negotiation, and collaboration in order to assume leadership in a multidisciplinary team. As a member of the profession, the baccalaureate nurse utilizes political and organizational processes to advance professional nursing standards. Baccalaureate education prepares graduates to advance to an area of specialized nursing practice.

Learning is a lifelong process in which an individual moves from the familiar to the unfamiliar in an environment that initially provides structure and then allows for increasing flexibility and creativity. We further believe that learning is optimized in a caring, participatory, and supportive environment that includes respect for individual diversity, access to resources, and a variety of activities.

Finally, faculty collegiality facilitates and promotes mentoring and pioneering activities in professional nursing. Faculty encourages and supports collaborative endeavors with students in a variety of scholarly activities within a wide range of health care context. Through example, facilitation, faculty strives to model commitment to a lifetime of continuing personal and professional development.

PROFESSIONAL SCOPE OF NURSING:

A nurse holds a paramount position in any healthcare system. Though the people in Pakistan dislike the profession particularly for females in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. But still, because of spread of education, some people like to serve humanity through the profession requires hard work and great devotion. Since Pakistan is the developing country and health care facilities are scanty to zero in rural areas especially. Therefore, youngsters should join the profession.

ABOUT LADY HELATH VISITOR (02 Years Program):

Lady health visitors (LHVs), as a specific cadre of health care provider, have existed in Pakistan since 1951. They provide a variety of services to urban and rural communities, including basic nursing care, maternal child health services, and training of community workers.

  • Lady health visitors are playing a great role in Pakistan for guiding the females about their healthcare issues.
  • They guide the females about different methods of family planning.
  • LHVs work for maternal health at grass root level.
  • They provide the medical treatment for common diseases. They also guide the females about prevention of common diseases.
  • LHVs ensure that new born children are provided with immunization facility.
